Vision & Values
Our Vision
Our vision at SU Scotland is to see every child and young person in Scotland exploring the Bible and responding to the significance of Jesus.
Our Values
At the heart of our ministry you will find two key values:
- Dependence on God: supporting all our work in prayer and rooting it in God’s word, the Bible; keeping in step with God’s Spirit as the one who brings transformation.
-
Deepening relationships: God made us to live in relationship with him and in community with other people. We are committed to ensuring that every child and young person encountering SU Scotland activities feels valued, welcomed and able to participate regardless of their beliefs, gender, sexuality, ethnicity, ability or disability; and that all volunteers, supporters and staff are treated with love, grace and respect. In all our work, we will seek to ensure the physical, emotional and spiritual well-being and development of each child or young person.
What we do
SU Scotland is a Christian charity with over 2,400 volunteers and 120 staff. We work in partnership with churches, Associate Trusts, and others to help children and young people discover God’s love, explore his Word, respond to Jesus and flourish as his disciples in four key areas:
- Schools: supporting pupils’ spiritual development and learning through classroom resources, SU Groups and School Residentials
- Holidays: offering a wide range of residential breaks for those in P5-S6
- Community: engaging with children, young people and their families, in partnership with local churches both in person and online
- Training: developing young people as followers of Jesus Christ and as leaders
Our three outdoor centres; Alltnacriche, Gowanbank and Lendrick Muir welcome thousands of young people every year and work to ensure each guest is welcomed and well cared for.
Magnitude events take place all year round, with a focus on our annual summer festival, hosted over five days at Lendrick Muir. In partnership with organisations from across Scotland, our heart is to raise up a generation of young people who are secure in their identity and purpose in God’s bigger story, united in living fearlessly as followers of Jesus and passionate about changing the world for His Kingdom.
We are committed to effective ministry with children and young people who experience life at the margins as well as exploring fresh expressions of ministry on digital platforms to reach even more of Scotland’s children and young people.
We offer safe places where they can have fun, meet new challenges, feel valued and accepted. We want young people to feel free to express their views and consider their own beliefs as they engage with peers and Christian leaders.
