Zonya Bewick
Zonya became Director of Local Ministries in September 2024, having previously worked as part of the Edinburgh Schools Team in the north of the city for 10 years. She felt a call to Christian ministry from a young age and hasn’t looked back since! After graduating with an Arts degree, she worked in oversees with mission with World Horizons for a number of years. Following this, she studied for a Master of Theology degree with a particular focus on Discipleship, before becoming the Development Worker for Urban Saints (Crusaders as it was known then) in Ireland. She also has a Diploma in Counselling and was a Volunteer Counsellor prior to working with SU Scotland.
Together with the Local Ministries Management Team – our three Regional Team Leaders and our Missions Development Manager – she oversees our local ministry across the country as well as the work of our Associate Trusts. Her passion is that children and young people across the country have the opportunity - through our schools work, residentials, community-based missions and discipleship programmes - to explore the Bible and respond to Jesus, knowing from her own experience the life changing significance this can have.
Zonya and her husband Jim, who is a secondary school teacher, live in Edinburgh, and have three adult sons. Living near the Pentlands, she enjoys a long walk in the hills, catching up with friends.
