Valerie Sim
Hello! I’m the Bible Alive Development Coordinator for SU Scotland and would love to tell you about this fantastic programme!
I have been using Bible Alive in schools since 2006, and find it to be a brilliant way to help schools meet Religious and Moral Education curriculum requirements, while enabling pupils to enjoy the experience.
Bible Alive takes P5 to P7 classes through the storyline of the Bible using storytelling, drama, music, quizzes and British Sign Language signing, and so it is involving, engaging and interactive. This fun and stimulating way to cover the Christianity part of RME provides a helpful resource for busy teachers, making it popular with both staff and pupils. Teachers regularly tell us that the Bible Alive lesson is the highlight of the week for their class!
Part of my remit is to train people who are interested in taking BA into schools in their area, and to support those who have trained and would like some help to get going with their programme.
I also like to visit churches to share more widely about the programme and how it helps pupils explore the Bible in a relevant and accessible way. Please do get in touch if you would like me to come to your fellowship.
If you would like to find out more about what is involved in presenting Bible Alive, or where and when there are opportunities to train, please let me know; I’m always happy to chat about BA!
