What is a Local Ministry Hub?
A local ministry hub is at the heart of each high school and its associated primaries. It is a group of local Christians from churches and Christian youth organisations with a heart for children and young people in the local community. It is made up of people praying for the schools in the high school cluster and working together to serve the local schools.
What might a Local Ministry Hub look like?
Led by a Regional Worker, Associate Worker, SU Scotland volunteer or youth worker from another Christian youth organisation, a hub meets once or twice a term to pray for the schools in the cluster. The group talks and prays together about how best to serve the schools. This could be SU Groups or Bible Alive. It could be chaplaincy. It might be something else that builds relationship and opens a door.
It also opens up opportunities for gathering local Christian young people from different churches to connect, socialise and gather around God’s Word, whether in person or digitally.
Missional opportunities can be part of the conversation too, whether for a day or a week.
Some school clusters go to one of our centres for their school residential. As an SU Scotland volunteer, this could be a wonderful opportunity to serve your local schools there and get to know the young people from your local community.
